— LexisNexis Academic Universe (a database of newspaper articles)
— CQ Researcher (each issue contains opinions and research results on a specific topic)
— Project MUSE and JSTOR (full-text articles from academic journals)
— OED Online (web-searchable version of the Oxford English Dictionary)

For questions about usage, punctuation, clarity, and style, see Strunk and White's The Elements of Style.
Bedford St. Martin's provides the Research and Documentation site, which gives useful information and quick references for a variety of citation formats. Go here when you don't have your MLA handy.
KnightCite and EasyBib can help you compile lists of works cited. Double check the resulting entries before putting them into your papers!
